Call for Applications: Regional Focal Points

Regional Focal Points

Note: the regular deadline for Regional Focal Point applications was September 8, 2021 at 23:59 GMT. Recruitment is continuing in a rolling basis however, for two regions: Middle East and North Africa, and Pacific and Oceania.

The Children and Youth Constituency for Sustainable Communities (CYCSC) is recruiting Regional Focal Points (RFPs). RFPs coordinate the Constituency's work within their respective global region by organizing outreach and mobilization activities around sustainable urban and territorial development. RFPs are volunteers chosen by a selection committee, for a term of one (1) year.

RFPs will be selected for each of the following seven (7) global regions:

  1. Sub-Saharan Africa - 2 RFPs

  2. Europe and Other - 1 RFP

  3. Latin America and Caribbean - 2 RFPs

  4. Middle East and North Africa - 1 RFP

  5. South and Central Asia - 1 RFP

  6. Eastern and South-Eastern Asia - 2 RFPs

  7. Pacific and Oceania - 2 RFPs

See here for list of countries by region (Annex 2). See here for more details on RFPs' roles and responsibilities. RFPs may be individuals or organizations/entities, must be 29 years old or younger, and must be members of CYCSC.

A big part of RFPs' work this coming year will be organizing regional consultations as part of a larger Global Youth Consultation on progress towards the New Urban Agenda. This consultation will culminate in a 'shadow report', to be published in 2022 following the Secretary-General's Quadrennial Report on the New Urban Agenda's implementation. See here for the Consultation's detailed Concept Note.
